My Christmas Shopping

I want to let everyone know how I bought some of my Christmas for almost nothing and sometimes for nothing!

Tonight I went online and because I am a member of JCP Rewards offered by JC Penney I get $10 each month to spend.  If you have it shipped to your store then there is no shipping charge.  I got a pair of flannel jammy bottoms for Addy priced at $7.99 but I didn't pay a penny for them.

On Friday ING Direct was offering to give a child $25 for a savings account if they were a new customer and all I had to do was deposit 50 cents (I deposited $1), so Addy now has a savings account with $26.

I joined RueLaLa.com  in October and for joining they gave me $20 credit, so I watched their site and found a pair of Sperry rainboots for Addy selling for $18, I had to pay the $5.95 shipping left over after applying my credit, but I got a GOOD pair of boots for the shipping cost.

I also joined a website called OneKingsLane.com and they gave me a $15 credit for joining, I jumped too soon and ordered some Wassail mix for Christmas, wish I had waited because now all of the Christmas presents are going on sale.

I am sitting and waiting to find something really neat for the $25 that thefoundary.com gave me and I will redeem it and probably pay less than $5 for shipping.  It really depends on what I buy.

Websites are giving people credit just to get their business so if you see that I have joined some group, then most likely they have given me credit to purchase something.

I also got two nice pair of earrings from darcustori.com and all I paid was the shipping cost.  There is another site called tanga.com and they also have items for free, you just pay shipping cost.  At Tanga you can only get one item for free per shipping cost, but the shipping cost is $4.95 or so.  I found several rings that were free and can't decide which one I want to get.

These sites have daily offerings like groupon.com.  They don't have the same thing everyday, their stock changes every day or two.

Also if you join Office Max they will send you coupons for dollars off a certain amount of purchase.  They sent me one for $25 off $75 and I found an item  for $89 for a Christmas present and used my coupon.  These coupons really help because you all know I am on a limited budget.

If you decide to join any of the above websites you can get a link and if your friends join and purchase after you have joined using your link you will get credit.

I also found a chain of stores that are mostly in MS called Dirt Cheap and if you don't mind digging you can find tons of things to find.  I found over $150 worth of name brand toys on sale there and paid $15 for all of it.  Their stock changes constantly and when they get ready to get new stock in they put what has been their longest on 90% off.  You can google them and their website will pop up and give you the locations.

Also, if you don't mind spending a little time you can find a bargain almost anywhere. I get a lot of my Christmas decorations from Goodwill, you would be surprised what people will donate.  This year, for instance, I found 4 Pottery Barn Reindeer mugs for 99 cents each.  I find my whimsical serving dishes for my Christmas party at Goodwill and Salvation Army.  I have been shopping these stores for over 30 years.  I also find a lot of Hallmark items there.  There is no shame in shopping these stores.  I have even found tons of brand name clothes there.

If you have any questions, just ask me and I will try to help.

Also, I have some pretty exciting news to share with you in the near future, so stay tuned.

Kroger Trip 10-27-10

I stopped in at Kroger today and checked out the clearance items.  This is what I found.  Del Monte tomatos 49 cents a can, I had 2 $1/4 coupons so I bought 8 cans and paid $2 total for them.  Good Earth Pasta Mix was on clearance for $2.49, I had $1/1 coupon so I paid $1.49 for this item.  Fleischmans Pizza yeast was 75 cents for a pack of three, I had 2 -55 cents/1 pack  so I bought 2 packs total paid for these items was 0. (The coupon didn't double because it would have been more than the item was priced at, this sometimes happens on clearance items). 2 packs of peanut butter crackers, Kroger brand, so I didn't have a coupon for these. A pack of ground sirloin that was reduced to $6.98.  Keebler crackers 1 box, I had a $2/Yogurt when you purchase these crackers and I bought a Splitz pack at $2.15 plus had 50 cents off this which doubled to $1, so I made 75 cents off this deal.  3 cans of Rotel, I had $1/3 cans, a coupon for $1.50 off any brand chips if you bought Velveeta cheese and 2 cans of Rotel, this made my chips free (store brand) and my Rotel 66 cents a can, no coupon on the Velveeta (gettng ready for Christmas). Now for the find of the day. Kroger had Schick Extreme 3 Disposable Razors B1G1 free and I had 3 - B1G1 free coupons plus 4 - $2/1 Razor coupons and 2 - $1/1 Razor coupons which made these razors free plus I made $10 with the coupons.  I had to get a manager to approve the last transaction at the store I shop at, but they see me in there all the time and the bottom line is whatever coupon they take they get paid for.  My total grocery bill was $73 and change and I ended up paying $17.84 which included tax.  Total savings was 79%

Shopping Tips

I take my coupon book with me whenever I leave the house and it has been a real money saver.  I had to go to Kroger and pick up a few things on Monday and ran across some clearance items that I had coupons for, Oil of Olay and Gillette Body Wash cost me ZERO.  Cheerios were $1.49/box and I had $1.50/3 so I got three boxes for $1 each.
Kroger has a clearance area like most stores.  It's off the beaten path so you may have to search for it. I check it everytime I go in to Kroger.  If your coupon is for more than the clearance price, then they will only give you credit for the clearance price, but free is free in my book.

CVS has their clearance at the front of the store and I have found that the clearance items vary from store to store as does the percentage of markdown.  The CVS I go to most often had 75% off summer items and another one that I just happened to stop in had 90% off the same items.  Don't be afraid to shop around.  I didn't have to go out of my way to compare prices, I just had to stop by and see. CVS will also only give you credit for the clearance price if your coupon is for a higher amount.  Also I spend a little time scanning the aisles for clearance stickers, it only takes about 30 minutes but it is worth the time when I score a really good bargain.

Walmart has clearance section, but I have found that even on clearance Walmart still thinks a whole lot of their items.  They don't really care if they sell them or not because after so long they will donate the items to Goodwill to sale.

At Target you just have to watch the aisles for clearance items.

Walgreens also has clearance and depending on the store, the clearance items may be aisle to aisle or they may have a section for clearance.  Again it only takes about 30 minutes to scan a store for clearance savings.

Rite Aid has their clearance items mixed in aisle to aisle also, but they also have end caps toward the pharmacy that have clearance items on them.  I have found a few items on these in the past.

Remember, your coupons DO NOT say "Not good on clearance items"  so don't let the stores intimidate you into not using them.   If you have a problem, always have them call a manager, most stores don't want to lose your business and remember they get reimbursed face value of the coupon plus a handling charge,

Lean Cuisine Deal

Lean Cuisine. I told you about the B1G1 free coupon on Lean Cuisine at coupons.com, (you may have to enter various zip codes to find it). At Kroger right now if you buy 4 you get one free, they are priced at my Kroger at $3.49. With the B1G1 free and the $1/1 coupon found at this link it you will be getting 5 for the price of $6. That makes it $1.25 per bag. That's quite a deal for a meal for two or three.

Deals at Kroger this week.

http://ronzoni.newworldpasta.com/pasta_coupon.cfm
Yesterday I was with my daughter buying groceries and here are the big bargains I saw. Kroger had Ronzoni Pasta 10/$1, with the coupons on this website you could buy 2 boxes for 90 cents, but if you look below the coupons and click on the $1/1 coupon at the bottom of the page, that makes two boxes for 50 cents each. Either way it's a great deal.

Rewards programs

Did you know that several corporations have rewards programs. Stouffers, Coca Cola, Disney and Huggies, just to name a few. The code to the Stouffers is inside the box, collect these and redeem them for items such as pot holders, coupons for free products, etc. Coca Cola's rewards are in the cap of bottle drinks and inside the carton of 24 packs and 12 packs. I have been collecting these points for some time now and almost have enough for a free rental car for a day. I'll research and find some more you can sign up for. You're gonna eat and drink, you might as well save those points for rewards!

Stacking Coupons

Stacking coupons is when you have a mfg coupon and a store coupon.  When you go to the store and have both of these coupons, always give the cashier all of your mfg coupon first, then the store coupons.  For example if you have a mfg coupon for peanut butter (not using brand names) for 75 cents and a store coupon for the same brand of peanut butter for 50 cents it will deduct $1.25 from your purchase.  I try to match up my store coupons with my mfg coupons to maximize my savings.  Another good tip is to make sure you get credit for all of your coupons, there is no way I have time to add them all up before I get to the check out, but I make sure I have all my items on the counter and even if it means the cashier has to wait a minute, I watch as each one of my coupons is scanned.  Another way is to hand the coupons over to the cashier one at a time.  Just don't get distracted and let them miss one or two of them, it's easy to get distracted, that's why I was thankful when my granddaughter went back to school, now my full attention is on my purchases.
Hope this helps.

Walgreen's Trip 8-25-10

Today I went to Walgreen's to see what bargains I could find.  Boy did I find a few.  They had Airwick Freshmatic dispensers marked to $3.99 and I had 4 - $4.00 coupons, needless to say I bought 4 of them.  I made 4 cents on these items.  I bought two 6 oz cans of almonds on sale w/Walgreen's coupon 2/$4 plus I had 2 - $1 coupons making my total for these $2.  I bought 2 Pledge MultiSurface Spray Cleaners, I had a B1G1 free coupon on these plus a 75 cent  coupon making my total for two of these $2.75.  Before coupons my total was $28.95 after coupons $6.70 plus tax.  My savings $22.25
