Walgreen's Trip 8-25-10

Today I went to Walgreen's to see what bargains I could find.  Boy did I find a few.  They had Airwick Freshmatic dispensers marked to $3.99 and I had 4 - $4.00 coupons, needless to say I bought 4 of them.  I made 4 cents on these items.  I bought two 6 oz cans of almonds on sale w/Walgreen's coupon 2/$4 plus I had 2 - $1 coupons making my total for these $2.  I bought 2 Pledge MultiSurface Spray Cleaners, I had a B1G1 free coupon on these plus a 75 cent  coupon making my total for two of these $2.75.  Before coupons my total was $28.95 after coupons $6.70 plus tax.  My savings $22.25

How do you plan your shopping trips? Are they by chance? Most people don't know about stacking. Are there any tips for that?

I get a Sunday paper and sit down after I put Addy to bed. I go thru the paper and match my coupons up with the store ad. I keep my coupons in a loose leaf binder with photo pages. I have space for almost 400 coupons. I also read southernsavers.com, brianasbargains.com and a few other sites to see if my match ups are the same as theirs.
Also, I NEVER leave the house without my coupon folder, you never know when you will run into a bargain. Last week I got 22 SoBe Lifewaters at CVS for absolutely free. They were running a B1G1 free sale and I had 11 coupons for B1G1 free. When you check out it shows you owe for 1, but when the coupon gets scanned it takes the one you owe for off, so it's free.
Since I'm not working, I can take my time in the store and I scan the aisles for clearance items. Coupons will work on clearance items too.
If you have a mfg coupon and a store coupon you can use both of them and that is called stacking. Just remember when you check out to ALWAYS give the mfg coupon first, that way the mfg coupon gets scanned and then hand over your store coupons. A lot of people will hand over their coupons one at a time to make sure they are getting credit for them. I try to watch and make sure each coupon gets scanned. Kroger in my area doubles coupons up to 60 cents and Schnucks doubles up to 55 cents. You can also load coupons onto your Loyalty card thru cellfire.com, kroger.com, and shortcuts.com, these will come off when you check out and they will send you a statement to your email showing how much you saved. If you have a mfg coupon, a store coupon and one loaded onto your card, they will all be deducted when you check out.

I don't understand the stacking. I generally shop at Kroger & when I try to use more than one coupon they won't let me. I always end up with the coupon Nazi. Once I bought something on clearance & had a coupon & they told me I couldn't use it b/c it was on clearance. By the time I get through I'm so frustrated that I want to snatch the coupons & run home! I need coupon help!!!

When I run into this problem, I always stand my ground, this is what I say "No where on that coupon does it state that you cannot use it on clearance items". They may not honor it if the item is 30 cents and the coupon is for 55 cents, but they should honor it for the amount of purchase, which makes the item free. I ran into this the other day at CVS and on a clearance item, free is good.
Don't let them intimidate you, if you have to ask them to call a manager, nine times out of ten they want you out of their line fast and will give in. I'll research and see if I can find their Corporate Policy and post it on this page.
