How to start couponing.
I get asked all the time how do you get started. The first thing you have to do is decide that you really want to coupon and set aside at least one hour a week to clip and organize your coupons.
The next step is gathering your coupons, and after they are gathered, then you have to decide how you want to carry them and how you want them organized. My coupons are in a large zip up three ring binder in photo album pages. They are arranged according to the store I shop at the most which is Kroger on Interstate Blvd. in Southaven. I can walk thru the store in about 30 minutes looking for bargains and closeouts that aren't put on the closeout section. When I see an item, I flip to the section for that product and find my coupon.
I have seen people use envelopes, accordian files made for coupons, larger accordian files and files organized A-Z, and if that works for you, then go with that approach.
When I get my papers on Sunday (I buy 4) I sit down at night while I'm watching TV and cut them out or put them in a bag for swapping with other people. Then I organize them by food, personal items, cleaning, make up and medicine. Then I organize these divisions by produce, meat, bread, pastas and rices, canned goods (fruit, then veg) coffees and teas, frozen items, snack items and beverages, and dairy products. (I keep my coffee and tea separate from beverages because they are at the first of the store and my beverages are closer to the end.)
Then I put them in my book, I find the more I handle these coupons the more aware of what coupons I have so I don't have to wonder if I have a coupon or not, I just know I either have it or don't.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.

Today's deal
I am always telling you to buy more than one Sunday paper, here is why.....today I was in Kroger and they had Malt-O-Meal dry cereal in 2 and 3 pound, yes I said pound, bags $1 each. Three weeks in the Sunday paper there was a coupon for $2/2 of the Malt-O-Meal dry cereal. I bought 4 papers that week so today I got 8 of the giant bags of cereal for FREE. Even if you don't use the cereal, it's a good item to donate to your local food bank.

Coupon Tips
I have been telling you to check sundaycouponreview.com to see what coupons will be in the paper, and I have also told you that I usually buy at least two papers and depending on the coupons sometimes 4. Well today at Kroger I was cruising down the personal items aisle and they were having a P & G campaign going on. They had buy 4 items and get $4 off at the register. I had three coupons for Aussie/Herbal Essences hair care B1G1 free and after the $4 at the register I paid $1.99 for the Aussie and $1.95 for the Herbal Essences, which made it a total of 97 cents per bottle of shampoo or hairspray, then I got 4 Old Spice deodorants on the same P & G sale for $1.29 each with $1/2 coupon which made them 65 cents each with a bonus of a coupon for B1G1 deodorant get a free Old Spice body wash which was valued at $3.50 and I had 3 coupons for that. Sometimes you really have to shop around for these deals, but these just fell in my lap. They also had Secret on the same sale, but were out of the kind I had a coupon on for 55 cents off plus a B1G1 free coupon that I have 4 of.

My Christmas Shopping
I want to let everyone know how I bought some of my Christmas for almost nothing and sometimes for nothing!
Tonight I went online and because I am a member of JCP Rewards offered by JC Penney I get $10 each month to spend. If you have it shipped to your store then there is no shipping charge. I got a pair of flannel jammy bottoms for Addy priced at $7.99 but I didn't pay a penny for them.
On Friday ING Direct was offering to give a child $25 for a savings account if they were a new customer and all I had to do was deposit 50 cents (I deposited $1), so Addy now has a savings account with $26.
I joined RueLaLa.com in October and for joining they gave me $20 credit, so I watched their site and found a pair of Sperry rainboots for Addy selling for $18, I had to pay the $5.95 shipping left over after applying my credit, but I got a GOOD pair of boots for the shipping cost.
I also joined a website called OneKingsLane.com and they gave me a $15 credit for joining, I jumped too soon and ordered some Wassail mix for Christmas, wish I had waited because now all of the Christmas presents are going on sale.
I am sitting and waiting to find something really neat for the $25 that thefoundary.com gave me and I will redeem it and probably pay less than $5 for shipping. It really depends on what I buy.
Websites are giving people credit just to get their business so if you see that I have joined some group, then most likely they have given me credit to purchase something.
I also got two nice pair of earrings from darcustori.com and all I paid was the shipping cost. There is another site called tanga.com and they also have items for free, you just pay shipping cost. At Tanga you can only get one item for free per shipping cost, but the shipping cost is $4.95 or so. I found several rings that were free and can't decide which one I want to get.
These sites have daily offerings like groupon.com. They don't have the same thing everyday, their stock changes every day or two.
Also if you join Office Max they will send you coupons for dollars off a certain amount of purchase. They sent me one for $25 off $75 and I found an item for $89 for a Christmas present and used my coupon. These coupons really help because you all know I am on a limited budget.
If you decide to join any of the above websites you can get a link and if your friends join and purchase after you have joined using your link you will get credit.
I also found a chain of stores that are mostly in MS called Dirt Cheap and if you don't mind digging you can find tons of things to find. I found over $150 worth of name brand toys on sale there and paid $15 for all of it. Their stock changes constantly and when they get ready to get new stock in they put what has been their longest on 90% off. You can google them and their website will pop up and give you the locations.
Also, if you don't mind spending a little time you can find a bargain almost anywhere. I get a lot of my Christmas decorations from Goodwill, you would be surprised what people will donate. This year, for instance, I found 4 Pottery Barn Reindeer mugs for 99 cents each. I find my whimsical serving dishes for my Christmas party at Goodwill and Salvation Army. I have been shopping these stores for over 30 years. I also find a lot of Hallmark items there. There is no shame in shopping these stores. I have even found tons of brand name clothes there.
If you have any questions, just ask me and I will try to help.
Also, I have some pretty exciting news to share with you in the near future, so stay tuned.

Kroger Trip 10-27-10
I stopped in at Kroger today and checked out the clearance items. This is what I found. Del Monte tomatos 49 cents a can, I had 2 $1/4 coupons so I bought 8 cans and paid $2 total for them. Good Earth Pasta Mix was on clearance for $2.49, I had $1/1 coupon so I paid $1.49 for this item. Fleischmans Pizza yeast was 75 cents for a pack of three, I had 2 -55 cents/1 pack so I bought 2 packs total paid for these items was 0. (The coupon didn't double because it would have been more than the item was priced at, this sometimes happens on clearance items). 2 packs of peanut butter crackers, Kroger brand, so I didn't have a coupon for these. A pack of ground sirloin that was reduced to $6.98. Keebler crackers 1 box, I had a $2/Yogurt when you purchase these crackers and I bought a Splitz pack at $2.15 plus had 50 cents off this which doubled to $1, so I made 75 cents off this deal. 3 cans of Rotel, I had $1/3 cans, a coupon for $1.50 off any brand chips if you bought Velveeta cheese and 2 cans of Rotel, this made my chips free (store brand) and my Rotel 66 cents a can, no coupon on the Velveeta (gettng ready for Christmas). Now for the find of the day. Kroger had Schick Extreme 3 Disposable Razors B1G1 free and I had 3 - B1G1 free coupons plus 4 - $2/1 Razor coupons and 2 - $1/1 Razor coupons which made these razors free plus I made $10 with the coupons. I had to get a manager to approve the last transaction at the store I shop at, but they see me in there all the time and the bottom line is whatever coupon they take they get paid for. My total grocery bill was $73 and change and I ended up paying $17.84 which included tax. Total savings was 79%
